Online meeting on cooperation between the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA, Mahidol University, Thailand and Hanoi University of Pharmacy, Vietnam.

With an aim to strengthen the bilateral and multilateral cooperation in training,
scientific research and international integration, in the morning of 24th
August, 2021, Hanoi University of Pharmacy (HUP) held an online meeting with
the Faculty of Pharmacy of Mahidol University, Thailand and the University of
Illinois at Chicago, USA to review the outcomes of cooperation in the past time and propose
cooperation directions in the coming time.
Present at the meeting, from Hanoi University of
Pharmacy side, were Prof. Nguyen Hai Nam - Rector, Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Thi Thanh
Huong-Head of Department of Pharmaceutical Management and Economics, Assoc.Prof.
Pham Thi Thuy Van- Head of Department of Clinical Pharmacy, Assoc.Prof. Do
Quyen-Head of Department of Science Management, Dr. Vu Xuan Giang-Head of
Training Department, Assoc.Prof. Nguyen Thi Lien Huong-Former Head of
Department of Clinical Pharmacy, MSc. Dinh Thi Hien Van - Head of International
Relations Department and some lecturers and full-time officials of
related departments. From the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC),
USA, present at the meeting were Prof.
Alain Lau, Director of the International Clinical Pharmacy Training Department,
Dr. Jennifer Pham and Dr. Christina. From Mahidol University (MU),
Thailand, Prof. Surakit Nathisuwan - Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy the meeting.
At the meeting, Prof. Alan Lau and Prof.
Surakit Nathisuwan affirmed that the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA
and Mahidol University,Thailand were committed to providing technical support to
Hanoi University of Pharmacy for renovation of higher education programs in pharmacy, curriculum and syllabus development, professional practice training (especially training
"preceptor" team in professional practice teaching) and scientific
research cooperation. Prof. Nguyen Hai Nam, on behalf of the Leaders of Hanoi
University of Pharmacy, acknowledged the support of Mahidol University and the
University of Illinois at Chicago, USA over the past years and pledged to cooperate
with these two universities to open a new stage in international cooperation among
the parties in training, academic research and higher education governance.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed
on the implementation plan for the period of 2021-2022 under the key agenda
items: (i) Organizing a webinar on higher education programs in pharmacy; (ii)
Faculty of UIC and MU participate in teaching elective topics (online and
face-to-face) for HUP's undergraduate and graduate programs; (iii) Capacity
building for HUP lecturers and HUP visiting lecturers at vocational training school
and health workers in clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice (through
face-to-face, online and E-learning courses); (iv) Cooperation in co-supervision
of graduate students and academic research cooperation.The meeting concluded with high consensus and
agreement among the parties in the context of education and training.
