ChongKunDang Scholarship Award Ceremony (16/09/2015)

On 16th of September 2015, Ha Noi University of Pharmacy in collaboration with Korea Pharmaceutical Company Chong Kun Dang (CKD) and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City held scholarship ceremony at Hanoi University of Pharmacy to support full tuition fee for 10 students from each Hanoi University of Pharmacy and University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Young - Moo Lee, General Director of CKD scholarship fund, Mr. Tran Hung- Vice Rector of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City and Mr.Thai Nguyen Hung Thu-Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Pharmacy.

 

With the aims to establish a common house via the relations with and among students and also to maintain relations in long term through the Kochon Foundation, since 2013, CKD initiated its human resources program in Vietnam starting with Hochiminh University to cultivate global talent and this year marked the holding of the first ceremony. CKD also has a scholarship program for students from UMP and HUP to enter graduate schools in Korea. The scholarship will provide living expenses including airplane tickets and dormitory fees until the students graduate.

CKD Kochon Foundation scholarship support program was established in 1973 by the late chairman Chong-Kun Lee, the founder of CKD. Since its establishment, CKD Kochon Foundation has awarded scholarships to more than 6,800 students during the past 42 years. Since 1941, meanwhile, CKD has grown to become Korea’s leading pharmaceutical company with 74 years of history. CKD is becoming a highly respected and competitive inventor of drugs in the global market through developments in new fields of medicine related to cancer, diabetes and obesity.
 

Chairman of CKD Kochon Foundation, Doo-Hyun Kim said “I expect the appointed students will study hard and grow as global leaders in order to serve the role of a bridge between the two countries, Korea and Vietnam, in the future.” 

CKD also expects to build a global network by establishing exchanges between recipients in Korea and abroad. Last July, CKD invited 5 students from Vietnam and Rwanda to Korea to meet Korean students and to enjoy Korean culture.
 

The ceremony successful end with continuous commitments efforts of students from Hanoi University of Pharmacy and University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh, responding to the call of Assoc.Prof. Dr. Thai Nguyen Hung Thu, Vice-Rector of Hanoi University of Pharmacy " I hope these scholarships will be small fulcrum for you to draw up your future, to contribute to the development of our country."
