The 17th Youth’s Science and Technology Conference of Vietnam’s Pharmacy and Medicine Universities (17-18/5/2014) (23/05/2014)

During 2 days (17-18/5/2014), the 17th Youth’s Science and Technology Conference of Vietnam’s Pharmacy and Medicine Universities was held at the Academy of Military Medical. This conference can be considered as a forum for young scientists which was organized every two years in order to encourage and motivate the young lecturers and students of Vietnam’s Pharmacy and Medicine Universities for active and creative learning, emulating and doing scientific researches.​

There are 150 reports from 25 Pharmacy and Medicine Universities in whole country to participate this conference. The themes were divided into 9 specific groups under the different fields of Medicine and Pharmacy branch. The organizing committees have made some changes on the way of giving marks and rewards aimed at further enhancing the quality of the researches.

In the conference, Hanoi University of Pharmacy participated with 8 themes which are arranged into three groups: The Basis of Medicine (5 themes), Pharmacy (2 themes) and Public Health (1theme). These reports have been selected with the targets of quality, scientific, creative and high practical value. With careful preparation and self confidence, the reporters have successfully completed the tasks. They achieve one excellence prize, two first prizes and five second prizes. Results as follows:

Excellence Award:

Actively monitoring of the adverse effects of antiretroviral drugs at 5 key HIV/AIDS treatment facilities  by Pharm. Tran Ngan Ha  (National Centre for Drug Information & ADR monitoring) (Research team: Pharm. Tran Ngan Ha, MA. Nguyen Phuong Thuy, Pharm. Dao Xuan Thuc, Pharm. First Prize

Theme: Xanthine Oxidase Inhibitory Activity of Vietnamese Medicinal Plants  in vitro by Student  Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai (K64 students). (Research team: St. Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai, St. Tran Thi Bich Ngoc, MSc. Hoang Thi Thanh Thao, Pharm. Pham Duc Vinh, Scientific Advisor:PhD. Nguyen Thuy Duong)

2. Theme: Research on anxiolytic effects, sedative and antidepressant empirical of Sinica Diels Stephania species. and L-Tetrahydropalmatin ingredents by Student Le Doan Tri (K64 students). Research team: St. Le Doan Tri, Pharm. Khong Trong Quan, Pharm.Le Thi Giang, St. Do Van Quan, St. Mai Thi Hue, MSc. Nguyen Thu Hang.

Second Prize

1. Theme: Research on synthesis of L-dopa for Parkinson disease treatment. By Pharm.Vu Duc Hoan (Pharm K63) (Research team: Pharm. Vu Duc Hoan, MA. Pham Thi Hien. Scientific Advisor: Assoc. PhD. Thai Nguyen Hung Thu)

2. Theme: Research to build Carbocystein semi-synthetic process at scale of 1kg/turn by Student Duong Van Khoa (K64 Student). Research team: St. Duong Van Khoa, MA. Nguyen Van Giang, Scientific Advisor: Assoc. PhD. Nguyen Dinh Luyen.

3. Theme: Explore on hypoglycemic mechanism of n-hexane from Salacia cochinchinensis L., Celastraceae roots on C2C12 cells.by MSc. Tran Thi Thuy Linh (Post Gra. K16). Research team: MSc Tran Thi Thuy Linh, MA. Nguyen Thu Hang, Scientific Advisor: PhD. Tran Thi Oanh.

4. Theme: Research on formulated artesunate nanoparticles by MSc. Nguyen Thuy Hanh (National Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology). The team: MSc. Nguyen Thuy Hanh, MA. Tran Tuan Hiep; Scientific Advisor: Assoc. PhD. Nguyen Ngoc Chien.

5. Theme: Study on experimental pharmacological effects on urinary stones and isolated active ingredients of Coix lachryma - jobi L by Pharm. Pham Duc Vinh (Department of Pharmacodynamic). Research team: Pharm. Pham Duc Vinh, St. Tran Thuy Ngan, St.Do Thi Yen, St.Dao Hong Hanh; Scientific Advisor:PhD.Nguyen Quynh Chi.

The reporters and research team of Hanoi University of Pharmacy, one among 5 universities, ( in total 25 participated ones) was rewarded Certificate of Merit: “ Rewards for the outstanding achievements in the 17th  Youth Science and Technology Conference of Vietnam’s  Pharmacy and Medicine Universities” by Ministry of Health and Prof. Nguyen Dinh Luyen, Head of Department of Pharmaceutical Industry was rewarded Medal of Honor for Young Generation by Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union for his contribution in guiding the younger generation to do scientific research.

Ending the conference, the organizers have given the traditional flag of the conference for the Da Nang Technical University of Medicine and Pharmacy - the host of the 18th Youth Science and Technology Conference of Vietnam’s Pharmacy and Medicine Universities which will be held in 2016.​
