The visit of the delegation from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on exchange program with GIZ, Chulalongkorn University and Hanoi University of Pharmacy. (01/07/2016)

On the 27th June 2016, Ha Noi University of Pharmacy received a delegation from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) consists of Dr.Dirk Rabien and Dr.Christina Foerg-Wimmer - Pharmaceutical Consultants to visit and look for the potential cooperation between Ha Noi University of Pharmacy in Vietnam, GIZ and the Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. This cooperation shall be aligned with the harmonization efforts of the ASEAN Economic Community. Aiming to facilitate exchange between academic institutions in the region and upgrade of the pharmacy training curriculum to include more practice-oriented components as needed by the local pharmaceutical industry, including on-site practical training and ultimately pursue greater harmonization of education throughout the ASEAN region.

The meeting was held with the attendance of Assoc.Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dang Hoa- HUP’s Rector, Head of International Relations Department, Vice Head of Training Department and officer of International Relations Department.
After listening to the overview of pharmacy system in Vietnam and introduction of HUP by Assoc Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dang Hoa - Rector of HUP, Dr. Christina Foerg-Wimmer – Consultant of GIZ also introduced about GIZ and presented the project named "Access to high quality and affordable medicines in Africa and South East Asia". The project focuses on three main areas of intervention: (1) supporting policy oherence; (2) strengthening the regulatory environment and the quality assurance of health products; and (3) promoting local production of medicines. Both two sides together discussed and proposed possible alternatives to collaborate. After the discussion, the delegation visited Department of Pharmaceutics, Department of Pharmaceutical Industrial and Department of Analytical Chemistry and Toxicology and National Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology in order to understand about the current situation.
Last, Dr Dirk, on behalf of the delegation thanked the enthusiastic support from HUP and expressed their wishes to have early cooperation.
