Newton opportunities: Research Environment Links. Deadline: 21 July 2017

Newton call for applications under the “Research Environment Links” (REL) programme which is delievered by British Council.
This REL programme aims to support capacity building activities in research and research governance at Vietnamese research organisations via partnerships with the UK institutions.
The proposed activities are designed by the Lead Applicant in Vietnam with the support of a UK partner organisation but some examples of activities could be:
§ Design and delivery of training programmes for researchers, research administrators, policy makers, researchers at R&D companies, research IP managers. Training can be varied from international research collaboration, writing papers for international academic journal, research IP and pattern management to research commercialisation, setting up spin off company, building long term industry-research institution links. The design should be based on a market research or need assessment in Vietnam.
§ Design and implementation of pilot initiatives seeking innovative solutions relevant to the Newton capacity building objectives.
§ Design and implementation of activities enabling the sharing of knowledge and good practice in the areas relevant to the Newton capacity building programmes.
Funding: the successful project(s) will last for up to 12 months with a Newton funding which ranges from £50,000 to £140,000. In addition to the Newton funding which will be transferred to the Vietnamese research organisation, the Vietnamese RO itself will need to contribute the same amount as matching fund.
